There seems a need to say some more here. During my time at Centennial the school was very well kept up, operated with less than 2000 students (its design enrollment), the cafeteria was large enough and had a non-smoking section (very progressive at that time), my teachers were very competent and dedicated, the school had well-equipped laboratories, and a well stocked library, unfortunately I never took time to see the workshops. My previous school was in large parts dilapidated and followed a commonly encountered policy of teaching no science. It was called a lack of teachers and funding. The part of the nation that school was located in was run since WW II by a lobby composed of economic interests and trade unions. The lobby still exists there today. Entering Centennial made me realize for the first time that schools could actually be of high quality. The state of Centennial can change if the BC government ever changes its priorities towards education. That could happen, for example in Ontario there seem to sudden and deep cuts in scientific research and everything connected with science.
The school size is ok but it sucks how theres no gym in the current building and most hallways are crowed during a period transition but overall, most teachers are quite friendly and helpful.
Horrible high school now. Next year we now have split lunches like honestly what the hell is this junk. I guess the really smart architects here couldnt design a big enough school. Now kids cant hang out and eat with their friends at lunch so there is no more looking forward to it. But of course every other school has a common lunch except this wonderful school. How are students supposted to eat lunch with early breaks?, some teachers dont even allow kids to eat in class at a reasonable time! Would rate 0/5 for this school but google wont allow it. Great job Centennial totally looking forward to next year!
If we didn't have to share lockers that would be great.
Mr Betts, the Electronics teacher in the early 2000s, goes down as the worst teacher I have ever met during my high school years. He was so awful, I stopped attending his classes and used the free time to study for my other classes instead. Looking back on it, the people in charge at this school must have been willfully blind or outright inept to not fix the problems he was having with his students.
