The vibe I got from this vet is that it is straight up all business and only business. My 14.75 year old dog was lethargic, loss of appetite and water, almost immobile, barely had any strength to stand. Upon discovering this at 1:00 am, I rushed her to this vet and met Dr. Dhaliwal. He took her from me and examined her in a private room without me. Not sure if this is common practice but I've been to six vets in the Vancouver lower mainland, three in Calgary, and only his examination of my dog was done without me present in the room to educate or inform me of what was wrong with my dog. He didn't ask me any questions at all. After 3-4 minutes, I asked the vet tech if I can be present in the room with her when he examines her, as this is what I am used to with my other vets. He lets me in the room only after the examination was done, and he said my dog was severely dehydrated, needed to get IV fluid needed injection to flush out the fluid in her lungs, needed x-ray, needed blood work, and needed to stay over night. Long story short, I couldn't agree with some of the work that "needed" to be done, paying the $900 ESTIMATED quote he gave me for things that I didn't think she needed based on what I know about my dog's history, he just simply stated "well she's going to die. She's an old dog, 14-15." I was shocked. He never mentioned if she was in pain, so I asked him to inject the water in her back (camel sac?) so I can take her home because I'd rather she passes with me next to her than locked in a crate. My other vets gave me options to choose from, so luckily I already knew about the camel sac option and I do not think Dr. Dhaliwal would've informed me of that option since it is a MUCH more cheaper alternative to an overnight stay with IV fluid. Also, why would I shell out $900 for that, especially if she's going to pass?! Any reasonable person would not dump $1k on a dying dog if the procedures would not help with the quality of her life.Fast forward, went to another vet two days later, he looked perplexed and bewildered as to why this doctor would state that she was dying when her health was improving significantly.It's been eight days since I've seen this vet and my dog is back to her regular health with no additional treatments or x-rays required. She's 80-90% recovered.TL;DR Dr. Dhaliwahl insisted I shell out $900 on my dog. After questioning/challenging his reasons for each charge, he simply stated "she's going to die" anyway. Personal experience. I would highly NOT recommend. But he seemed nice, not rude, when I refuted against his recommendations, so thank you. Vet techs and receptionists were super nice too. I would give 0 stars if I could.. unfortunately I cannot. Brought my cat here about three weeks ago because she broke her leg. They were great, super professional and got her a splint right away. Fast forward two weeks (last Thursday) and my cat decided to chew off her bandaging around her splint, me thinking that shes just getting annoyed with it on, decided to call and go back to get it replaced (vet said it would be a 30$ change) so be it. We get there, without even asking us, decided to clean and re-do it all. Charging us 110$ later.... now yesterday, shes shaking her leg trying to get it off, chewing it off, basically trying whatever to get the thing off. So we decided to look why, and discovered that the vet put it WAY too tight and its been rubbing her leg raw for the past week. We call again, they said it would be free to change it because it was their fault, they decided to pin her down and scrub it WHILE ITS RAW. So whatever, they didnt put a splint on it this time because it needed to dry out properly. We let her out when we got home and her whole leg is blood and scabs from them. She is in so much discomfort and distress. Its absolutely disgusting. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!! Cannot stress it enough.
Our kitten was recently hit by a car and passed away. They let us sit with her until we were ready and handled all the cremation and paw prints for us. They were very sensitive to our needs/feelings and even sent us a Sympathy card in the mail. Fantastic service.
Our cat is going to be 16 in November, so when we noticed just before midnight that his muzzle was swollen and tender we knew we shouldn't wait until morning to take him to the vet. They were incredibly gentle with him, and told us it was good that we found the infection while it was still minor as tooth extraction at his age is more dangerous than helpful. After pain killers, antibiotics and $200 we were home within an hour of leaving the house.We would rather not have to come back, but would in a heartbeat. An emergency is an emergency, no matter how furry the patient is.
I took my dog in on a stat holiday and was given immediate treatment. Everybody there was very friendly and very understanding of the situation that was going on. My dog was well examined and given medication and after a hour she was in perfect condition.they also forwarded the information to her regular vet and also did a follow up call the next day which meant alot.there was no hidden fees or big charges on the bill of any kind. I will forever appreciate their kindness and will recommend them to all my friends.
